Presentation:     Enhancing Community Food Safety Awareness: Street Vendors

 

 

Mr. Powell obtained his degree in Bachelor of Science from UCLA in 1981.  He began his career with Los Angeles County’s Environmental Health program in May 1984, and is currently the Acting Director of the Special Operations and Planning Bureau, as well as the Environmental Health Ombudsman for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.  As Ombudsman, he represents the County as a liaison to the media, special interest groups, professional associations, community organizations, industry representatives and the general public regarding issues concerning the various aspect of Environmental Health; most notably the retail food establishments and multiple family dwellings.

 

Mr. Dela Cruz is a graduate of California State University, Northridge and holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Environmental Health.  Although his professional background is mainly focused on food safety and sanitation, he has served on various committees to address different aspects of Environmental Health such as healthy homes, food defense, and storm water.  He joined Los Angeles County Environmental Health in 1996 and is presently Chief Environmental Health Specialist of the consultation & Technical Services unit.
