Presentation: Local Perspective: The Sanitarian’s Role
During Disaster Relief Efforts
Chirag H. Bhatt holds a bachelors degree in
biology and chemistry. He is currently the
Bureau Chief of Consumer Health Services with the Houston Department of Health
and Human Services. He has been employed
with the City of Houston for over 25 years and
is currently managing the food inspection program in the fourth largest city of
the United States.
Courtney Bock is a Registered
Sanitarian working for the City of Houston
Health and Human Services Department in Consumer Health. Courtney was the primary sanitarian
responding to the disaster relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina at the George
R. Brown Convention Center in Houston Texas, and has worked with other city
departments to develop the after action report summarizing the role of the City
of Houston in the sheltering operation.
